Literacy

This week we will be learning about the story "Aliens love underpants." Ask a grown up to help you read the key vocabulary in the story. Are there any words you don't understand? Use the pictures and ask a grown up to explain what each words means.

Now listen to Mrs Jones reading the story and listen out for these words.

Science - What are materials?

Materials are all around us. They are the objects that make up the world we live in. Some materials, such as rocks, are natural. Others, such as plastic and glass, are made by people. Talk to your family about other materials you can think of. Look at these spaceships. What materials do you think they are made from?

Activity 1 – Go on a materials hunt around your house. What different materials can you find? Try to find at least one item to add to the list below:

  • Fabric –

  • Glass

  • Plastic –

  • Metal –

  • Wood -

Click on the attached for Activities 2 and 3.

Design and Technology - Design a spaceship

Look around your house for more items that can be recycled. You might find cardboard tubes, metal tins, ice cream tubs and plastic bottles and lids.

How could you use the items to make a Spaceship? How could they be stuck together? Start to think about what your spaceship could look like. Talk to your family to share ideas. Here are some ideas to help you.

Complete Activity 1 and 2 on the attached.

P.E.

Using the ABC Challenge from Week 1, spell out these space words.

1. Monday = EARTH

2. Tuesday = ALIENS

3. Wednesday = PLANET

4. Thursday = ROCKETS

5. Friday = SPACESHIP

Alien Colouring - print off and colour in.
