Welcome to Forest Fields Primary and Nursery School

Summer 1 - week 1

This term we are learning all about Paddington Bear.

Paddington Bear had travelled all the way from darkest Peru when the Brown family first met him on Paddington station. Since then their lives have never been the same... for ordinary things become quite extraordinary when a bear called Paddington is involved!

Let's start by reading the orginal story of Paddinton Bear. Click on the link below.

Our topic book is ‘Paddington’ by Michael Bond.

You can listen to the story being read here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhCvDL31DTE&t=92s.

Literacy

After you have read the story a few times why don't you have a go at creating your own story map to show what happens. Remember to label characters and key parts of the story.

When you have finished your story map, use it to help you re-tell the story to your family.

Here is the story map that Miss Huxtable made.

Maths

This term we are learning how to count up to 100 in 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's.

Can you join Captain Tom Moore counting his laps around his garden?

You could count your laps around your garden, living room, bedroom or any room!

Why not try counting in multiples of 2, 5 and 10 using the multiplication grid below.

Have you tried the Mathletics site yet?  There are children all over the world waiting to play with you!

Why not try these times tables games? Remember we are learning 2, 5 and 10 this term.  Could you challenge an adult in your house?

How are you feeling at the moment? If you are feeling worried or sad, what could you do to help make yourself feel better? When I'm anxious, I make sure I talk about how I'm feeling with my family and try to exercise every day. Here's some top tips about being stuck indoors.

Choose your favourite character or page from the story and sketch it, with a pencil.

Add colour with a colouring pencil or felt tip pens.
